Oil Sensor AND the ECM?

Can anyone shed a little knowledge on this? My 1998 175 has been sitting in the garage unused for about 5 weeks. Upon starting it, the oil beeper started beeping immediately. I have gone through several tests. The only one I have not completed due to time is the voltage at the coil/green wire thing. I ran it on a premix can today and bled the oil pump, aux tank, etc. I verified the pump is putting out, even though I know the tank level has been going down when I take the boat out. I DID NOT have 12 volts on the white wire going to the oil sensor, so I made a jumper to provide 12 volts to it. The beeper was sounding and stopped immediately when I connected power to the white wire. (thought I fixed it!) However, it came back on every 2 minutes. I pulled all the plugs and grounded the wires to do the white/blue wire voltage test while pulling the motor through with a rope......Nothing. No voltage measured at all. I did this test with a probe inserted into the sensor wire connector while it was still connected to the sensor. Is the the proper test? The manual did not say. Is it possible that the ECM (no 12 volts on the white wire) and also the sensor have failed just sitting in the (hot)garage? We had several over 100 degree days here a couple of weeks ago. Can I get by with just a new sensor and running the jumper from a switched 12 volt source to it? Id rather not have to by an ECM if I can help it.

Re: Oil Sensor AND the ECM?

I am using the OEM manual. I put 12 volts going to the sensor, where it unplugs on the left side of the motor. There is supposed to be 12 volts coming out of the ECM on the white wire to the sensor and mine has nothing.
