2010 bayliner 185 with 3.0, A1:

Had my cylinder head replaced this spring, boat runs like a top, about 8 hours since repair. Oil is clean, haven’t had to add any. I can see no leaks from valve cover, head gasket or pan. I just get this faint burning oil smell. I don’t let it concern me too much, but still keep it in mind.

i know the tech flushed a ton of oil, motor flush and diesel through motor when replacing the head, and believe it’s the solvent smell still burning off the oil. Only issue I had post repair, was the valve co we breather tube wasn’t connected to flame arrestor in the carb, but when it wasn’t, there was minimal overspray or misting as there should be.

any thoughts, or just wait until the oil gets changed this winter and stay on plane?

I f you don't see oil in your bilge or see oil consumption I'd wait it out and use your bilge blower to keep the odor off your mind.

And that’s pretty much how it’s handled at idle! I don’t stress about it too much, my engine had major surgery in April? I just assume it’s solvent from the flushing when they were getting the water out of the motor.
