I have a 1999 250 saltwater series that the alarm keeps sounding on the oil sensors. I have tested the sensor in the tank on the motor, which appears to be good. The oil does not appear to be transferring from the remote tank to the motor tank. The oil pump on the remote tank test as good, the emergency switch test as being good but will not transfer oil from the remote tank to the oil tank on motor. I have not found a test to run on the sensor in the remote tank. Anyone have any suggestions or performance test I can try before replacing the CDI. Any wiring details suggestions on this?

Re: Oil tank transfer

Have you replaced the filter in the oil line on the boat tank? If the filter is plugged, you should flush out and clean the water emulsion and sludge out of the tank.

Remove the tank and see if you can hear the electric oil pump running when you depress the emergency transfer switch. That will narrow down the problem possibilities.

Re: Oil tank transfer

remove the boat tank sensor and bring the float all the way down and run a continuity check if its good its ok! I had to take out the tank to remove the sensor because the wires to the sensor are short. you can drain the tank but you cant see the float to make sure its down. hope this helps!
