Hi

I purchased a new oil tank for my 1989 70hp J70tlcem motor.

Obviously that year model didnt have the system check gauges etc but it has the overheat and vro horns.

I purchased a system check 1.8 gallon oil tank model number 176368.

I have since installed it and hooked it up, I cut off the wiring harness and soldered and insulated the black and tan wires.

I have since discovered however there is a difference between the system check and non system check oil tanks with regards to the low oil level warning signal produced by system check tanks.

Is it ok to use this tank? ie will it still sound the warning horn in the event the oil level is low?

Any help would be appreciated

Not sure...but why not just syphon 3/4 of the oil out of the resevoir into a clean jug, turn the key the see what happens? If all good, pour it back in. Shouldn't take 10 minutes.
