Firing order is determined by the camshaft, not the heads.

The firing order for a standard Mercruiser 888 L.H rotation (Ford 302 based engine) is 1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8.

Cylinders number differently to a GM engine. Starting with the front cylinder on the RIGHT side of the engine, down to the back, 1 to 4. From the front to the back on the left side, 5 to 8.

Oil, by the book, straight weight SAE 30... Most people use a good quality 25W40.
