Yup you guessed it... the dreaded Gamefisher 5Hp model 217586612.

Im getting totally two different answers about oil type/ratio.

Some say TC-W (water cooled) is fine , others say stay away from the "W" and use air cooled 2 stroke oil only (like in lawnmowers / weedeaters).

This manual that Im following says...
http://f1.grp.yahoofs.com/v1/8HwmTo...MEkTzz6o4WHfVQAuHX2JikFRZe2Q/eska service.pdf

Fuel:eek:il ratio of 32:1
may be used on 1974 and later models if
oil used is BIA certified TC-W. If BIA
certified TC-W oil is not available. use a
good grade of outboard motor oil in a
24:1 fuel to oil mixture on 1974 and later
models.

Need someone to straighten this all out. This motor from what I read is Air cooled head but uses water to cool the lower "leg".

Thanks,
DamianJP

Re: Oil Type/Ratio

again? LOL absolutly any TCW3 oil is fine...I run the dog **** out of my Eskas on J/E XD25 and a bit of seafoam now and then....if its good enough for me big Ole Johnson then its good enough for me little Ole Eska. any further decision is pointless and its well known were just dealing with marketing stratages with oil packaging these days....and as a point of interest Sears branded 2 cycle weed eater oil is penzoil TC-W 3 synthetic marine grade....why wouldn't it be eh? :)

Re: Oil Type/Ratio

Mr Crabs..

Thank you again ! Im sorry if I asked this question before I do not remember. TCW3 it is , now that the manual I was follow for the spark plug was off with saying .030, is it wrong with the TC-W3 oil ratio with 32:1?

If so so what ratio of TC-W3 whould I run in this beast?

Thanks,

Re: Oil Type/Ratio

I apologies I'm wrong, your 21786xxx number is a late model, I had it confused with the 217586x models, I should have payed more attention, however beside these late models all other plugs gap at .35...

All Sears Outboards with model numbers 217.586000 and above where built by Eska Outboard in 1985 - 1986. Eska closed and stopped production in 1986.
Most of those motors used a 50:1 Oil Mix. Most used Plugs J-12-Y with a gap of .030

I should follow my own advice eh?
