Hello Everyone! I Sure am glad to find this forum! after reading some posts I am amazed by all the knowledge on this BBS. I have been a sailboat owner for some years, but have now made the move to a 1998 Maxum 2800 SCR 7.4L Merc with a Bravo 3 Sterndrive. I have been able to keep up with most needed repairs, but this past weekend I had something happen with my trim pump. Maybe you can help me find what has gone wrong?

While underway and up to speed, I noticed the up trim wasn't responding. I slowed, and found it to work at slow speed or in neutral. Taking a closer look, I found the pump was working for trailering and for down, but not up trim - it was just clicking. Later on in the day, I found that the trim wasn't responding in either direction, and the trailer button didn't even work anymore - just clicking all around.

The oil reservoir is filled OK, and I assume the fuses are OK since I am getting those clicks, etc. Trim systems are strange to me, coming from sailboats with manual trim o/b motors, and I wonder what it could be. I don't see an obstruction on the outdrive... I think that air in the system would tend to squealin the cylinders... Any ideas? Has this problem been experienced/solved by anyone?
