OILY FIN

hey everyone,,1989 Johnson 120 hp,, noticed after I run the motor for a few minutes with the muffs on, after I shut it down I get a little oil running out from behind the prop and down onto the bottom fin, I take it that its not supposed to do that,, is there a gasket or seal that needs to be replaced and if so is it easy or a pain in the ass ?

smell the oil. if its grey and has a gassy smell its normal and just shows that the oil system on a 2 stroke is working correctly. Gear oil has a foul smell.

I asked the same question 2 years ago when I first noticed the oil dripping out of mine after running on muffs :joyous:

Very normal when running on muffs !!
