I have noticed an oily residue coming from the transom plate where my Merc 150 is mounted. I figured this is from the power tilt/trim resevoir, but I'm not sure. Some of the sillicone sealant has come loose, and when bracing (for trailering) I can sometimes see a gap between the transom (motor) mount and the transom plate. I have also noticed water coming into the boat through the mounting bolts.<br />I am new to boats and not sure what I'm looking at. Do I need to unbolt the motor completely and re-seal the mount, or is there a simpler alternative?
