Re: OK, Gotta do it

Well, seriously, I think it will be a hard case to prove---

But these facts are known: The RNC contributed a bunch of money, the source of which money is in question, to help win a few Republican state house seats.

When those seats were won, Delay managed to push thru a redistricting plan for Congressional districts to virtually guarantee Republican winners (And he managed to get 5 new seats for his Fellow Republicans in the next election.

Now I know some will call that just hardball politics, and both sides do it, and that may be true, but it was not what the founding fathers envisioned when they devised the system of proportional representation.

If, given reasonable geographic boundaries fairly divided, your side won, I'd say that's what elections are supposed to do...
But this draconian gerrymandering, no matter which side of the aisle does it, is wrong and is not about anything but grabbing power.

And Delay deserves whatever comes his way, and I do hope Earle can get a conviction

I'm gonna be a Liberal Demoncrat for a moment. There is nothing wrong with Daniel Renzis alleged actions. We all should never be ashamed of what we enjoy doing. We all should understand Daniels wants and needs. :)

Re: OK, Gotta do it

Anyone who knows me, knows i do not suffer scoundrels well. As for guilt, there must be a conviction before i give up on this one, just as i did with Sandy Burglar. I just could not believe any American senator would have the onions as to steal and sneak classified materials out in his socks. It just sounded like a "witch hunt" to me....As does this case.
I am a neo-con. But that should not matter as regards the letter of the law.
I gave Burglar the benefit of presumed innocence up to the moment he was found guilty.

PW and others chomping at the bit for a mug-shot they can convict with before a conviction, I have one piece of advice for you.
Let the liberal prosecutor do your bidding. He is a professional. Let the liberal judge make his ruling. They both have your interests at heart, and not even the interest of seeing true justice.
As a matter of fact, their primary objective has already been a success....They got the house leader to step-down, under a cloud of criminal charges, bogus or otherwise.

"The photo op did not go as planned, but at least it hurt the majority's image. And our media can use the footage!"

The media is strongly backing this inquisition ,like good soldiers of the left. Give them a chance to do their werk.
As for the photo op gone terribly wrong, here is an interesting article that clearly shows the REAL motivation of the left-wing media, if not, those who buy their printed tripe.
It clearly shows the outrage over a missed shot. Had the mug-shot been of a dejected, solemn DeLay, it would be the ONLY picture ever published of him for the rest of his life, regardless of case outcome.

if tom and the majority of iboats was black, you could substitute tom with OJ, and this post would still make sense.

i love how this group has to side with their pathetic party. conservative republican- he must be innocent, what about clinton. liberal democrat- let's see him fry, clinton was ok.

how about just being pissed that our elected officials, both republicans and democrats, don't seem to understand they are expected to be above this. they should have better morals, uphold values, and stay clean. how hard is that to understand.

The specfic link is all manner of things, but mostly I suppose the Associated Press. I read lots of different sources, mostly from mainstream press, but any of the major outlets tell pretty much the same story. msnbc.com is as good as any, I would think. Even Delay said basically the same thing, with a bit of a different spin, of course.

And the only people I have heard that have even commented in any way on his photo have been repubs---who apparently are easily amused.

Click the link in my previous message,PW.
You will find the author upset about not having a photo they can use.
It clearly shows the liberal intent from a liberal perspective in a liberal paper. It is not wishy-washy, it is go/no-go in the opinion of the "journalist".
They blew their photo op, no small thanks to the subject.

Ok, I clicked the link, read the article, and still don't know what you are talking about.

That was just a reporter's speculation on what a possible reaction a liberal might have to the photo. So what? I'm sure there are some on the left that hoped he looked like he was just pulled out of the trunk of a car after 5 days, but that is not the point, and ultimately who cares?

Matt wrote:

Quote on>

how about just being pissed that our elected officials, both republicans and democrats, don't seem to understand they are expected to be above this. they should have better morals, uphold values, and stay clean. how hard is that to understand.
-----------

This is exactly the point, and I absolutely agree with you Matt.

This is not about partisan idealogy. This is about a "winning at any cost" mentality, and power grabbing, and is disgusting no matter which side perpetrates it. In my mind, it threatens the very core of democracy.

OK,PW....That explains a lot. And i am not making light of your intelligence at all, just the way we look at things -- just as our ideologies, are 180degrees out-of-phase with each other. Because I on the other hand, need not read further than the TITLE to get the message: "DeLay Smile May Foil Democrat Campaign Ads"...Luarie Kellman (the rerpoter-babe who authored the piece), didn't even make an effort to mask her personal frustration.

That one sentance explains the entire democratic strategy for the 2006 and 2008 to me!!
The DeLay inquisition is not about seeking justice, or to imprison a criminal scoundrel...It is about the photo-op that the perp-walk and mug shot would provide democrat canidates in the upcomming campaigns. Everyone from the Hildebeast to school bus Nagin can use the clips in their adds..."But alas, FOILED by the scoundrel's smile and snappy dress. Why, it looks more like a pic taken for his OWN campaign commercials!", i can picture the lefties lammenting..

Funny.. I absolutely agree with him also,PW.

I disagree. It certainly shouldn't be "about partisan idealogy", and yet, it solely is! Your very next sentance suggests that you agree too;

How true, PW. And if you cannot see the costs paid by both sides of this issue, you are blinded by the prosecution, and can smell non-existant blood in this hunt.
It does not bother me very much that Delay was investigated so aggressively by his enemies. What bothers me is the true motivation behind that investigation, and the tactics and procedures utilised to bring-down the leader of the house without due process.
In other words, "it's not the degree of guilt, but the seriousness of the charge", as mouthed by left-wing "journalists"in the past on Sunday talk-shows, (CIP, towards Newt Gengrich some years back) that disgusts me utterly, and allways will -- regardless of who perpetrates it.
And instead of due process, into this toxic vitriol, let us now add an avid supporter of John Kerry and Moveon.org, as the chief magistrate of this case!!!

This chain of events should be mentally-recorded by us all for future reference. Simply-put, it reeks of witch-hunt!
