I received this yesterday, and really thought hard about it before I posted it here. But felt I had to, not so much because of the topic, but more because of us, the silent majority, keeps getting stomped on, and it said so much about us and our values. So yes maybe this is a troll but maybe it may serve as a wake-up call also......Not that most of the people here need a wake up. It's the other liberal dipschitts that need a good strong cup of java.......................................

This speaks for itself.
Samuel Thompson wrote:

I don't believe in Santa Claus, but I'm not going to sue somebody for singing a Ho-Ho-Ho song in December.

I don't agree with Darwin, but I didn't go out and hire a lawyer when my high school teacher taught his theory of evolution.

Life, liberty or your pursuit of happiness will not be endangered because someone says a 30-second prayer before a football game.

So what's the big deal? It's not like somebody is up there reading the entire book of Acts! They're just talking to a GOD they believe in and asking HIM to grant safety to the players on the field and the fans going home from the game. "But it's a Christian prayer," some will argue. Yes, and this is the United States of America, a country founded on Christian principles. And we are in the Bible Belt.
According to our very own phone book, Christian churches outnumber all others better than 200-to-1. So what would you expect ...
.....somebody chanting Hare Krishna?
If I went to a football game in Jerusalem, I would expect to hear a Jewish prayer..... If I went to a soccer game in Baghdad, I would expect to hear a Muslim prayer. If I went to a ping pong match in China, I would expect to hear someone pray to Buddha. And I wouldn't be offended!!
It wouldn't bother me one bit. When in Rome...
"But what about the atheists?" is another argument. What about them? Nobody is asking them to be baptized. We're not going to pass the collection plate. Just humor us for 30 seconds.

If that's asking too much, bring a Walkman or a pair of ear plugs. Go to the bathroom. Visit the concession stand. Call your lawyer.

&nb sp;
Unfortunately, one or two will make that call. One or two will tell thousands what they can and cannot do. I don't think a short prayer at a football game is going to shake the world's foundations immediately.

Christians are just sick and tired of turning the other cheek while our courts strip us of all our rights.

Our parents and grandparents taught us to pray before eating, to pray before we go to sleep. Our Bible tells us just to pray without ceasing. Now a handful of people and their lawyers are telling us to cease praying.

GOD....... help us!

And if that last sentence offends you, well..........just sue me. The silent majority has been silent too long!! It's time we let that one or two who scream loud enough to be heard, that the vast majority don't care what they want.. it is time the majority rules!

! It's time we tell them, you don't have to pray.. you don't have to say the pledge of allegiance, you don't have to believe in GOD or attend services that honor HIM. That is your right, and we will honor your right.. BUT!! you are no longer going to take our rights away!!.. we are fighting back.. and we WILL WIN! (GOD said so in HIS book!) After all.......the GOD you have the right to denounce is on our side!

GOD bless us one and all, especially those who denounce HIM... GOD bless America, despite all her faults.. it's still the greatest nation of all..... GOD
bless our service men who are fighting to protect our right to pray and worship GOD...

May 2003 be the year the silent majority is heard and we put GOD back as the foundation of our families and institutions.

Keep looking up.......... In GOD WE Trust!!!

Hoo Boy... here it comes... :D

I agree with all of this, and not because of my religious beliefs... they are irrelevant... I agree with all of this because I am American. There is nothing in the Constitution saying we can't express ourselves publicly (unless you cause harm by yelling "Fire" in a movie theater when there isn't one, etc). Quite the contrary. Separation of church and state was only meant to make sure the government doesn't shove a particular religious ideology down anyone's throat. It was never meant to publicly restrict any citizens freedom of religion or opinion. Reading into it any further is a crock. It's freedom OF religion, NOT freedom FROM religion.

Can you hear it? The Constitution and the rights it guarantees are slowly eroding away. Listen, you can hear it...

"But what about the atheists?"

What about us?
Live and let live, to each there own, If you want to pray at the game, Have at it. I will be the one standing or sitting quietly respecting your rights. You see I belive that there should be prayer in school or any where else for that matter if that is what you want to do then who am I to stand in the way of your rights. I may not be standing beside you in church but I will be standing with you when we take our rights back

Good for you Jgregory. I'll second the motion. See Jgregory, the people who are responsible for all of this think that this great country just happened. Like the amoeba morphed into a human being, all by it's lil ole self, this country became the strongest, richest and most benevolent country of all time by total happanstance.

Even those eeeeeeeeeeevil white Founding Fathers knew that this country was a great experiment that had no chance of success without the intervention of God.

Yet those who so vehemently adhere to the fictitious "seperation of Church and State" are not willing to endure "30 seconds" of public prayer or walk a few extra feet around a hunk of marble in a court house, in the off chance that Christianity has been the Glue that has kept this Nation.

Re: Ok Maybe I'm Trolling with this one, But it kinda struck a cord with me.

I wonder if those seeking to remove God from our Country have considered the long-term effects. Where will it stop? When is it enough? God is the root of America, and has been here with America since she was founded. How shall we test ones honor and honesty if they erase his presence? We swear in our political leaders under God. " So help me God." Our defendants and witness take an oath under him. " Do you swear to tell the truth, the whole truth, so help you God?" Our courageous servicemen repeat their last words as civilians under God, " So help me God."

So, I ask you. Where will this end? Do not be naïve and assume there has been no injury against a Judeo-Christians' rights so far. Even the rights of the non-believer has been damaged. When our Federal Courts and government stand up and denounce the Almighty they have taken vows under, what fiber left is weaken. God is in America, and was eagerly invited by our forefathers. If we hold anything sacred we shall stand for their vision, we should stand for Our God.

Personally, I am not religious. I am not against the concept of God, I think a healthy belief in something is a good thing, and I can see where it can benefit in day to day life and raising a family. My main problem with religion is it has been the basis for some of the worst things humanity has done to itself and others. Wars, Catholic schoolboys, you name it. That being said, if a person wants to pray at a football game or whatever, let them. It doesn't negatively effect me, so they can have at it.

Of course, you know what they say:

"Never talk about religion or politics".

This trend of Christians getting kicked around in this country is getting old. Like Ladyfish said, "Where will it end?" It has to stop. Christians need to follow Dr Martin Luther King and demand OUR civil rights as Christians. Sounds nutty right? Well the nutty thing is that this country has morally decomposed to the point that this is a reasonable course of action.

As a lifelong student of science, I believe in evolution

As a person, I dont believe in a hairy thunderer who, with a snap of his fingers (man created god in the visage of himself after all)that created the universe and everything within it ... it could be the case that the universe is indeed a bit of dirt beneath the fingernail of a being so vast to defy comprehension (consider the worlds made available by the microscope and the telescope, and realize they are limited)

Therefore, as a student of philosophy, I question the limits of comprehension regarding the infinitessimal, and the infinite

As a student of psychology, I realize its good to have a moral guidepost, a higher power to give comfort in times of confusion and chaos

As an American, this country was founded as a Christian refuge, to enjoy religious freedoms (puritans annoy me, but to each their own)

So if there is a problem with prayer, guess what?

GO TO HELL, this is AMERICA, FREE to PRAY, free to

LIVE AS WE HAVE ALWAYS LIVED, ONE NATION UNDER GOD INDIVISABLE - UNTIL ITS DIVIDED BY THESE NOISY SCUMHOLES DETERMINED TO DESTROY THE TENENTS THAT WE HAVE ALWAYS LIVED BY, THE SAME TENENTS THAT WE BECAME THE MOST POWERFUL NATION IN THE HISTORY OF THE WORLD

And if ya dont like it, go back to whatever slime hole you slithered out of and stay there

Good post, America needs AMERICANS to remain America, not these hyphenated scumbags trying to use our Constitutional freedoms to undermine the very country that was founded under those freedoms

You Know, Sometimes it's fun to post some of this controversal crap just to see what kind of responce you get from Good 'ol Castaway Ray. ;) ;) ;) :p ;)

Good post Ray, and you know JB while this could be looked at as a rehash of the whole religious issue, if you look at the beginning of my post it is more about the silent majorities time to stand up and say......................

I'M AS MAD AS HE11, AND I'M NOT GOING TO TAKE IT ANY MORE

For those of you on here who feel that this post or "troll" as some have called it or is a "whine" about how you feel post, they really need to open there eyes and relize that they are not the only people out there with the only opinions that matter and what they may not feel is importiant, may be very importaint to others. If it was about the Gov trying to limit the number of guns somebody owns I bet I know one person who compains the most about these so called trolls that would be on here "WHINEING" about there right to bear arms......hmmmmmmm.....also there are new members everyday on here who may add to a subject that were not here the last time something simalar was posted. How about if the subject matter of a post doesnt intrest you dont read it it or reply to it.

Re: Ok Maybe I'm Trolling with this one, But it kinda struck a cord with me.

hello
what I find funny is that when I raised my right hand and swore to uphold the constitution and all the other stuff to join the mightiest Navy on the planet we did not have to repeat the so help me god part. during the persian gulf war we had some muslims on the ship that were peturbed and rightfully so. they went to the captain with their beliefs and concerns and our captain wisely transferred the ones who said they could not do their duty if it meant killing fellow islams. I respected them for that. on the other extreme I think it was on the USS kennedy, 2 muslim brothers got caught conspireing to sabotauge the ship. they got prison terms. that to me is freedom of religion. I did not mind serving with muslims, jews, gays or most anyone else that did not belittle or force themselves on me.
I liked this post and hope I dont get called names again :) :) :)
good luck and keep posting

Re: Ok Maybe I'm Trolling with this one, But it kinda struck a cord with me.

Lubedude, I can't vouch for any other non-religous people, but I myself am accountable to the most important being in existence: Me. I have to live everyday with the knowledge of my own actions, I have to wake up every morning, shaving my cakehole, and know I am living by my highest moral standard, a standard that dictates that I will help a broken down motorist, I will wash my mothers car every weekend because she washed my arse every day, I will not steal, I will not cheat on my significant other. I will not abuse my daughter, I will not run over a cat that runs in front of my truck. I will confront a person who chooses to beat their child in public beyond what is considered discipline. I will stop and let someone cross the street when it is raining out and I am in my dry vehicle. Since I know so many devout christians or whatever that drink to get drunk, cheat on their spouse, beat their children, or any other unacceptable behavior and they go to church every sunday, and they feel that because they pray and beg forgiveness, that a God will forgive them their sins. It is not God who they should be begging forgiveness from, it is the people they hurt every day who they should beg forgiveness. Seems pretty simple to me....

I am accountable to me, no God can compare to the standards I place on myself....

Re: Ok Maybe I'm Trolling with this one, But it kinda struck a cord with me.

i think jasonj put it all in a good summary of what life is about - objectively speaking :) i absolutely adhered to that same frame of mind, and i imagine most humans growing up strive for that same understanding. that was always in my mind when growing up. it helps to realize what we are here to do, just what is life? and how does it affect me?

kudos to that :D

another posting is not really needed i guess...
no "ifs, ands, or buts" in my mind. the only thing i would wonder about is how this still without any doubt leads to faith. in your fellow man... why not? because you can imagine where it will lead, you were a part of the 'terrible three's' its alot of faith it seems, and the really cool part is that you DO get better at it with more life experience & years. :D

if anyone would wish against better understanding of one another, i can't imagine what good their life would be. JMHO :)

i hope that previous post didn't turn out bad, or negative in any way. the last sentence wasn't meant in any negative way, just an objective way. i can not logically understand any other meaning of that. i have learned what might be a reason, but it still doesn't fit my logic.
