I just purchased a used Xpress x18 2002 modle with a Mercury 150 xr6 2003 model and I am trying to figure out how I hook up a depth finder on the console. It has the lowrance depth finder, circle one, in the dash already, but I am more intersted in hooking up my lowrance to know the temp. There is already a transducer on the back for the stock finder already installed. Is there anyway I can hook my depth finder up with this transducer???? All i have is the depth finder, no cables or anything. How can I accomplish this task? Any help appriciated!!!

Re: Ok, what do I do??

Transducers may not be compatible between the same brand of locator so the chances are slim that the existing transducer is compatible with your Lowrance. That's the problem with buying just a head unit -- it's worthless unless you have the matching transducer. Even if the existing transducer is compatible with the Lowrance head unit, there is a fair chance the connectors do not match. In some cases adapter cables are available. Switch boxes are also available from some manufacturers that allow you to run two head units from one transducer. The problem however is that you can't run both at the same time and both units must be compatible with the transducer. So there are lots of options, but compatibility is the issue.
