Hi everyone,
How do I find out the year for a honda outboard?
In the owners manual I have( not sure if it is from the same motor) it says if water does not pump the screen might be clogged, don't show where the screen is but it might be clogged. The s/n is b100s-170013. If anyone knows what year and where I can get a shop manual I would greatly appreciate it.

Here's a link to a Honda Marine suggested shop manual:

Suggest you check out the water pump impeller replacement section. If the motor is old and hasn't been run for a while, the water pump impeller may be the cause of your lack of cooling water flow. You know what happens to an engine run without cooling, so hope you get it fixed quickly.

Honda's website only shows one owner's manual for the BF100, no matter the year, and on that manual's page 6, it shows the water intake under the anti-cavitation plate, above the propeller. It's not likely to be the cause of your lack of cooling water flow but you can easily rule it out. Here's a link to the owner's manual:

Good luck.

Thank you very much, this is exactly what I was hoping for. The motor ran fine last year, pumped water fine, don't know what happened.
Thanks again cp!

Be careful here.... inside the water passage cover there is a button zinc. Mine was disintegrated and pieces of it blocked some passages in the engine. My WP was all renewed but I still had the issue of overheating. THIS is what I found to be the problem. If you can't get air or water into the engine from the water tube you may have a blocked water passage. It requires taking the water passage plate off and going through the water passages with wire or other device. You can check your thermostat while you're at it. It'll cost you about $5.00 for the gasket. Not expensive parts but labor is intense. I left the zinc out so it wouldn't do that again. I use salt terminator religiously every time I flush the engine from a trip.

I'm guessing that your motor is pumping water but it's not making it out the pee hole? Try taking off the upper cowling, disconnecting your cooling hoses and blow some compressed air through all of the hoses and stick a pick in the tell tail(pee hole) and make sure it's clear. It's happened to me even when i rinse out the salt when I get home. Good luck!

Thanks for all the help guys, ended up putting the prop in a barrel of water and blowing compressed air through, bubbled real good, started the motor and it was pouring water out nicely. I realise I'm going to have to replace the impellor, thermostat and gasket soon but now I can wait till I get a manual and do it right.
