Old 1970's fiberglass boat with no paint - Ok to test on water?

Hello,

Just picked up a small 15 ft fiberglass boat with a steering wheel and an outboard for basically nothing. The paint on the exterior hull above and below the water line has been sanded down to bare fiberglass. We want to take the boat out tomorrow for a quick test run to see if everything is in working order before we invest any money into it and paint it. Is there anything extremely bad about taking a old bare raw fiberglass boat out for a test run on a fresh water lake for an hour before letting it dry out, a quick re-sand, and paint in a couple weeks if all goes well? I have had a lot of trouble finding a direct answer to this, but I assume its ok, because I see a lot of boats in this area with minor or major chunks of clear coat and raw fiberglass showing.

Thank you for your time.

If your down to bare fiberglass, then I doubt it as you will have parts of the cloth showing.

It makes no difference, you can put it in the water with no concern.
