If you don't get a response soon (lots of knowledgable chev guys here..Rodbolt knows all), repost as "Rodbolt-350 GM rear seal question". I've seen some info here on it before....good luck. Hang tight....

Re: old 5.7 vs new 5.7 question

I belive the 800 drive used a flat plate style coupler that bolts on a manual shift flywheel like a pressure plate would. i cant remember but my old one was like that. I saw it once :) :) . the two flywheels are different. find the proper dia flywheel for your engine. the flywheel OD needs to be the same as well as the tooth pitch on the ring gear to reuse your old starter.
I threw away all my old stringer manuals some years ago when I swore I would never touch another. so far I have not.
how new of a 5.7 block are you using and does your new block have the pad for the mechaical fuel pump?
there are a few other minor issues but I cant remember them right now.

There is no adapter availabl. You would also need a new coupler.
