So I replaced the back to back and jump seats in my '87 Thompson this past week. I now have 4 seats laying in my backyard and I have no idea what to do with them EDIT I was not sure if anyone else had any suggestion aside from just throwing them away, which I don't want to do. They are not in terrible shape but definitely could use some work. I called a local boat upholstery shop and they did not want them. Open to suggestions EDIT

Honestly meder24, if you can't find anybody locally, just throw them away. Anybody wanting seats like that are not looking for budget or even free platforms to work with. They would most certainly need recovered and there is a zero market for such things. That is the reason the boat shop didn't want them. So toss them and forget about them... JMHO!

That is what I was kind of expecting to hear.
I just figured it was worth throwing it out and seeing what others did.

Do you have a Freecycle list in your area? Here in Atlanta (and other cities I have lived in; Raleigh, Tucson) there are Yahoo groups whose goal is to "keep things out of our landfills". Very simple, you send an e-mail to your local freecycle list stating the item you are offering, and any instructions for arranging for a pickup. Interested people respond to the list, and then you contact whichever responder you want directly to arrange a pick up time and location. I've freecycled a lot of my kids toys and items as they got older as well as computer and boat items I have not been able to sell on CL or in garage sales, and have picked up (among other things) a hydroside, a tube, various ski vests, a pond boat, softball gear, lawn equipment. You can also request as well as post items, so if there is something you need, you can post a WANTED message, and if someone has what you want and is willing to give it to you, they contact you directly. There are a few rules like no "Curb Alerts" i.e. if you have an item, you need to have a person to give it to, not just "first come". You are also not allowed to give away anything illegal, and no pets or live animals.

Freecycle works great for somethings, but the last 3 sets of boat seats I have put on our freecycle never got any action, so I threw them away.

Never heard of Freecycle. I will look into that though. Sounds pretty cool.
