I have an old model 1122 Eska I got off of Ebay. It looks to be in pretty good shape. Lower unit seems OK. Compression feels fine and it looks like it was used in fresh water as it came from PA. Yet I can't get it to start. I pulled the plug wire and held on to it while I turn the motor over with the pull cord. I can barely feel the shock from the wire so I supect the old coil or magneto or whatever it uses for ignition is about done for. Can I find those parts for this old motor anywhere? Also does anyone know the proper fuel mix for this old thing?

I have a 1982 2 hp Eska. There is a place in Totawanda, NY called Lang's Outboards that can get you parts. Search the web and you will find them, they are great and I have ordered parts from them in the past. The ignition is a basicaly a points design. Most of the Eska motors run 32:1 mix.

Mine is a Skipper model I think from the 60's. From what I can see there is not a whole lot to them. Speed clutch and spin them around to go backwards :p

Looks like you just pull the flywheel with any puller and replace the simple ignition. Other then that about all there is to do it looks like is rebuild the carb. Which is probably a good Idea anyway. I have yet to find and old outboard carb thats not laquer'd up.

most lawnmower shops will carry the ignition parts
for the air cooled motors. remove the old parts
and take them with you to match them up.
