I recently acquired a 1975 Evinrude 115 and I would like to add a tachometer and temp gauges to it. Does this engine already have some sort of signal output for a tach? Any specific tach gauge required? And as far as a temp gauge.. is there already something in place to measure temp? If not, what would be recommended for placement of a thermocouple?

Thanks!

The tachometer runs off the alternator.----Wiring is already there in the control box.-----Look for a gray wire.

Lots of universal alternator tachs available. Take your pick

You would have to run another wire for the temp gauge. Plenty of gauges come with a sender to mount under a head bolt. The motor already has a overheat buzzer alarm. Do you really need a gauge?

Thanks for the quick help! I would just like a temp gauge so I can keep an eye on any changes before the warning buzzer sounds.

Temp gauge lets you see the range for your motor. Should be able to see when your t.stat opens as well, at least the one that serves the head with the temp. sender.

But don't run into any channel markers or boats at anchor!
