Hello, I just bought an old Evinrude . Model number is 35517 and the serial number is 15079. It has not run if five years. He said it was all winterized before he stored it. What things should I do before I try to start it.? What year is it. and it says to use one quart of oil to six gallons of gas. I would rather go a little heavy on the oil than I need to. But What mix can I use without hurting the engine.? Thank you very much for the help. I am new to boat motors.

35517 is a 1959. I'm not too much of a fan of "doing something" without knowing what it actually might need. I'd try starting it first, then go from there. For sure it needs a new impeller. And the usual hoses and stuff.

One quart of oil per tankful is correct. There is no need of dumping in more.

Thank you for that information. What kind of oil should I use. Modern day two cycle oil. or just 30 weight non detergent. Or something else.?

Today's TC-W3 outboard oil. It is light-years ahead of the 30 non detergent they used to run.
