I'm buyibg a boat that hasn't been ran in 2 years. It is an 89 Force 150 hp 2 stroke. The boat has about half a tank around 8 gal. The guy said as long as the gas has oil in it, it is good. Sounds a little fishy to me. Also can I use syn oil in an old motor?

Thanks,
Tom

Get rid of the old fuel. Yes you can use synthetic oil. I tried running it in an 84 150 but really couldn't tell any difference.

First of all did he add a stabilizer in the fuel tank before storing? And if he didn't I would question his maintenance practice. As far as sync oil is concerned, TC-W 3 certified blend is all you need for that engine. I have a Force 120 and that is what I use, but I also stored my unit with proper storage practice ie; -fogged carbs, clean lower unit oil, fuel stabilizer etc - Force engines need to be looked after to avoid the disasters you hear about on this forum regarding those engines.

God luck.

Cheers!

George.

Re: Old gas

Throw the gas out and flush the entire fuel system and carbs with clean fuel.

Re: Old gas

Old gas is great for yellow jacket nests, fire ant hills and to kill Kudzhu vines, not for your motor. Start fresh and use the Stabil Marine all the time, install a fuel/water separator. Good Luck!
