Hi, <br />I recently got subj. model number 9G0M2 on engine, 55973A on nameplate on lower unit, serial numbers accordingly 37067 and B2369 I would likt to know specification year of make and all other possible info about this engine.<br />Thx,<br />And

55973 comes up as a 1969 55 HP Evinrude motor. Hopefully others will verify, as you said it is a 60 Johnson.

I was confused by in the internet available code lists, it seems there is no such a engine. I checked by pictures and it seems like to be 70 or 71 3 cyl 2 stroke Johnson.The pictures of the engine is here http://and.apollo.lv/1.jpg and http://and.apollo.lv/2.jpg . Maybe someone for some reasons switched nameplates??<br /><br />And

RB..... No offense intended here. The engine is indeed a 1969 model but it is a 55hp Evinrude.<br /><br />Edited 02/18/04 - 01:55pm. My apologies RB, apparently I misread your post. Gotta speak to my optometrist about that!

The cover is changable between E&J? Then maybe only cover is from Johnson? Did you check pictures? I checked http://mitglied.lycos.de/old_omc/j_1970/seite06_07.jpg and it look like this..., but it may be the cover

Yes, And.<br /><br />Your engine will accept a '70 Johnson 60hp bonnet. That must be what it has on it.<br /><br />Good luck.
