I have a 68 Johnson 40hp w/ "Johnson controls". The shifter cable is attached to a very tough plastic looking object about 4 inches long(pictured below). The cable goes through this piece and 2 screws anchor the cable into place. Anyways, it's broken and I tried to 'gorilla glue' it but no luck. I want a replacement.

Any OMC dealer can supply this part, but you must have a real bind somewhere in the cable or linkage to cause this.

I just picked up the boat a few weeks ago. It was broken when purchased. I bought the part at a dealer today...last one in stock....thanks for the advice. Hope it doesn't bust, but we'll see if there's a problem or if it was just old age.
