Ive got an old (estimate 70s - 80s) Mercury 40 the mechanic tells me it is a mercury 40 blue band with a thunderbolt ignition. Does this mean anything to anybody?? At the moment it has no spark, but i saw it running last october (started first time on the key). I am assuming that i have connected the switch wrong - even though i have correctly matched the colours - would anyone know any more about this engine S/N 9299066
Age? Wiring diagram?? magic start button???

Any help would be appreciated!

ok, got some pics to post - also it turns out the S/N was given to me wrong by the mechanic - it should read 9299766 (dont guess this makes too much difference but hey...))

Does anyone recognise one of these??
Mechanic seemed to think it was called a blue band over here in UK but maybe the same engine is under another name in the US???

Any help is appreciated!
