Old Neptune Trolling Motor ?'s

Hey guys, I recently inherited a 1978 18' Starcraft center console with a 70hp evinrude that others here are trying to help me get running. Anyway, the boat was my late father-in-law's and when he bought it, it has a Neptune brand trolling motor on it that mounts on the lower unit. I know Minn-Kota makes a newer Neptune 24 volt that mounts the same way, but this one is older (1978) and is not made by Minn-Kota. Is anyone familiar with this unit? I'm not sure if it's 12v, 12 or 24v, or straight 24v. He did have two 12v deep cycles hooked to it, but unfortunately they were not hooked up when I got the boat and the battery cables were laying all over. I don't know if he was using two 12v's to just get more amps or if he had them hooked together to make 24v. The motor has a wired remote with variable speed control, forward, off, reverse that mounts next to the steering wheel. There's no info. written on the motor itself. It just says Neptune on the remote, and the control box where the power wires from the batteries and the control wires from the remote and motor itself come together just says Neptune Control Box. No voltage, no model, no nothing. Any info would be great!

Did you ever get help with your Neptune? I am in the same boat, so to speak. I recently bought a 1991 Spectrum that has a Neptune EX120 stern drive mounted motor. I do not know what the voltage is because no batteries came with the boat. It has a wired remote at the helm, but it is very corroded. I would like some info on this motor and to know if a Minnkota remote can replace the neptune one. Thanks for any help.

I am not sure if you got the information for your EX120. I have the same unit and it is 12volt. Had it for 15 years and it works like new still.

I did get the unit working after connecting some wires in the control unit. The forward mode is great, but the reverse has a hard time pulling against the transom of my 19 foot boat. Anyway, thanks for your reply.

Does anyone know where to get a prop for this Neptune EX120??? Mine is cracked and I need a new one.

I'm not sure where you can find a prop for the Neptune. I'm keeping my eyes open for a spare. If I find one, I'll post the information here. Good luck.

I have a Neptune ex-120 trolling motor that I have had for years. My son lost the boat off the trailer a few years ago and I have remodeled the boat and engine but I can't find the cord from the Neptune control box to the steering wheel that has the controls switch for forward and reverse and speed. He must have lost it the night he lost the boat off the trailer in the mountains.

Anyone know where I can get a control switch with cord?
