Have a 30 year old Funtoon 28 foot pontoon boat with original aluminum deck and a very ratty original carpet. Carpet is so bad now it is a trip hazard.
Boat is used for fishing and slow cruising. A real "Plain Jane" but in good shape.
Just mounted a new 60HP motor on her last year so now its time to resurface the deck. Carpet would feel nice on the feet but it would also be nice to be able to hose her off and put her up wet. Aluminum deck is in perfect shape and good and stiff (built like a tank).
What say the group ? Paint ??,, Rhino stuff ??,, Inexpensive carpet ??
Please tell me you experiences on a project like this.

I just bought a '87 toon, and the pervious owner just glued good quality indoor/outdoor carpet ontop of the old. he removed what furnature he could, and cut around the others. It looks OK, he could have done a better job trimming around the seats.

you could go whole hog remove everything and replace the floors also, they sell kits with everythng you need, so it depends on how much you want to put into it.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm leanin' towards the grizzly coating.
Checked out their website as suggested.
Sounds like I need to strip, prep, prime then 2 coats.
I plan on leaving the railing and operator seat & console in place and masking them off..
Boat is not equipped with lounges, seats etc. Just a flat deck with an operators console and swivel seat. Great for fishing (just throw on a couple of lawn chairs and your good to cruise and/or fish).
My son suggested I take the boat to one of these pickup truck spray on liner shops and just let them do it. I'm gonna get a quote on price and availability.
I am not sure if these guys are up to the prep and prime work though.
What do you all think ??

are you talking about putting something like a spray on bed liner for the floor?, that would think that would hurt walking on it in bare feet. let alone skinned knees.

That is what I have in mind. In reading this forum's archives I found others who have taken the bed liner stuff/Grizzly stuff approach. Maybe the spray on bed liner stuff is different than the "grizzly" stuff. They both sound a lot alike on the Grizzly website.
I am going to wait a bit to see what other feedback I get here in this forum.
