I was givin a old aerocraft aluminum boat with no paper work ( was in a barn since 1999) after stripping the paint it has the origanal hull # (MC5809AC)How can I find out what year it is,and can I get paper work for it. It also has a # from when it was reg. on the paint. any help would be appr. thanks Ron H :confused:

Ron, you can go to the US Coast Guard Manufacturer Identification Code [MIC] on the web and search by hull identification number {HIN} or by manufacturer. Your HIN didn't turn up anything, but Aerocraft has two addresses: Aerocraft, Inc. 339 Bidwell Rd. Coldwater, MI and 13300 Gibralter Rd Gibralter, MI . HIN in it's current form has only been required since 1972, so your boat may be earlier. It's a start. Good luck.

Ron,<br />You can also go to the DMV and have them look up the last registered user. Of course if it was stolen they will confiscate it. Also the last registered owner may not want to fill out papers for you. But that is rare.
