rumor going around southern MD that the insurance companies are going to stop writing insurance on boats over 15 years old - anyone heard anything like this? My boat is almost 25 years old and in great shape - would hate to lose coverage.

I have for a couple years now. I would think they would have to grandfather existing customers in though if they would do it at all. There will always be someone that would cover it. Like a classic car doesn't have the basic policy. They are insured for a lot more then blue book value but you pay for it.

Check out American Select Insurance company. Sold through independent agents, specifically ones who write Westfield Insurance. If you have an agentin your area, they should write a policy. I have never seen them turn one down yet!

Hey F, I was just in Annapolis two weeks ago, and saw signs to Glen Burnie. Did you see me waiving??

Allstate declined to add an old runabout to the insurance policy I had with them. They will continue to insure an existing boat, however.
