woody you number looks like serial #, should be model #on plate just above the 2 transom clamps. could not match #. this will help you along >> http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?t=299680 when adjusting carb, ignore the #'s, i really have no idea why they were ever there.

I will get a picture of the nameplate and get it oon here so you can see it.
Also on the shroud it says , electric 25 on the front near the pull string , there is no electric start on it , hope this helps identify.

The serial number on the name plate is 705557.

Thanks

Was wondering about the flywheel. It has a pull start now but was wonder what years i could swap out for electric start. This thing is very cold blooded or jsut not tuned right, I have spark and had it running for a couple mins but now can't seem to get it to run while in water.

Thanks again

You may find some useful info in the posting from another forum ... http://www.marineengine.com/discus/messages/12478/247418.shtml

The picture with the label with "Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co" on it ... is that from this motor???

You also might find this site interesting ... http://www.toyoutboardmotors.com/evinrude.htm

Yes , the goodyear tag is from this motor. And the side says evinrude, so that is why i was trying to find the year.

I got the motor started today bad spark plug wire . seemed to run ok , but the fuel pump wasn't working so well , small hole in the diaphram. works well with primer bulb in hand hehe.

Looks like it might be a Goodyear engine. Can you post a few pics of the engine inside and out. That model number is not an Evinrude.

The cowl is from a 1955 Evinrude 15 hp. The motor is something else. I assume its a Goodyear, which was made by the Gale division of OMC until 1959. Since it has a fuel pump and came from Gale its probably a 12 hp not a 15 hp.

I'll see what i can find on the Goodyear model number.

Turns out it is a 25 hp after all. I'm surprised the 15 hp cowl fit.

Model number 225-3617 is a 1957 Goodyear 25 hp electric start, built by Gale.

Ah, I just saw the pics of the cowling. It says Big Twin 25 on it Wayne, thus is must be the 25 cover although it doesn't look that big.

Your right, Steve. I didn't look at all the photos.
