Re: Older Evinrude 35 horse big twin- gets REALLY HOT and I Have no gears.
Hi Motown<br /> You are correct your motor is a 1958 35hp big twin evinrude. The proper fuel/oil ratio is 24:1 that is a quart of oil to six gals of gas. If your motor is overheating you need to service the cooling system before you do any more testing. I strongly sugest you take Solittle's advice and ether take a trip to the library or fork out the thirty some bucks for a manual. Outboard parts can get expencive. A small investment in time to read up on the basics can save you time, money, your motor and your bacon. I really don't care that much if a guy screws up his motor beyond repair, cause he can allways dig up another. But I do tend to worry about personal safety (your bacon).
