My old 1969 Mercruiser Type II (known as the rock crusher by some older boaters) may be in need for a shift cable in the spring. The last time I tried to locate one I came up short, but that was before I knew about this board. Maybe with the communities help, I can locate exactly what I need. This Outdrive is the Merc that uses about 6 quarts of gear lube and does not have an internal water pump. If any of you know an older shop that might have what I'm looking for that would be great if you could forward me a contact.

I think the cable part number was 53764A1

HELP, before I really need it.....

It would appear that the cable is NLA. I will check with Mercnet on Monday, we have a database of old NLA parts.

Contact me via my email. So I do not forget.

TMD
