I have recently purchased this little 8 hp motor, pull start, 2 cylinder, that I want to use on my boat as a kicker/trolling motor. The issue is, I bought it knowing the switch box was bad but when I received it, the box was missing along with a few smaller bolts. I now just need to find the part number of the box so I can replace it. Could someone please tell me where the best place online to go so I can look up the motor and get the part number and how to do that? The only information that I have is on the motor bracket a serial number #A720978 . Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

A serial number will get you the parts list on the crowleymarine site.

Some small Mercs are made by different manufacturers, so if you do not find the parts you need, you might look into that possibility.

ie I had a camping generator made by Homelite. Parts were real hard to find. It turned out to be a Yamaha EF400. Parts were easily found for that brand/model.

Thanks Chris, I was able to look up the serial number at marineengines.com and found what I was looking for. I ordered one from amazon (cheaper one) but will see how that goes.
