I have an older 1960's 35hp mercury. I noticed that my teleflex steering cable will not pass through the transom mounting bracket sleeve. The diameter of the cable is too thick. My question is. Does anyone currently make steering cables for this old merc? Does anyone know where I can find older used steering parts? I was told by local dealer that I could buy an adapter plate for the motor and my teleflex cable would work fine, but the cost of the adapter is more than the motor is worth. Any ideas would be helpful.
