My son called me and asked me about a motor he saw in a late 80's Renken bow rider. I have not seen it but he described it as and OMC V4 115 HP mounted on a support off the back of the Renkin's transom. What is he looking at? I have never seen an OMC in anything but Evinrude/Johnson paint.

Thanks

Re: OMC 1.6 Seadrive V4

OMC made them for a few years. I have a pair of 1987s. The engine is rated at 110 hp and is kinda like the regular V-4 bubble back. They were painted in charcoal grey with red pin stripes. I have had no problems with the SeaDrive assembly but I have read that parts are hard to come by since they have not been made in years. One draw back is that they can not be raised or lowered once installed on the transom without drilling new holes & cut outs in the transom.

And to add to this, if the boat wasn't designed right to hold that weight on the stern they would ride real low in the water and give you all kinds of probs.
