I have a 2.3 liter omc cobra with a Rochester carb which appears to be made by GM Part Number 61513833 which according to the boat mechanic needs to be rebuilt or replaced. I know enough to be dangerous but this boat has milked me endlessly with very little love in return. I have a ford engine with a gm part? right? and since its made by OMC, they picked and chose what they wanted? In any event I can't seem to get an answer...
Should I as a first timer try to rebuild it, where could I get an operable carb cheap on for this boat that isn't worth a lot of money.. they are running 200 to 350 from what I can see... Does anyone have any ideas.. I would like to get this boat operational and sell it.. its driven me nuts for years..

Thanks

The OMC people spent a lot of $$$ and they picked what they wanted to operate the best.
Get the carb rebuilt by a pro.
He'll tell you if you need a new one or not.

If you are mechanically inclined, then rebuilding the carb is relatively easy. Not very hard. Do your research and you can do it. No special tools needed, just screw drivers and some carb cleaner and of course the rebuild kit. Make sure it includes the accelerator pump. Good luck
