OMC 2.3 ESA switches

89 Bayliner OMC 2.3 Ford<br />Do the ESA switches (interrupter and overstroke), when not functioning properly, cause no spark or erratic spark?<br /> Thanks

They usually cut spark on 1/2 the cylinders.<br /><br />DHP

Cut meaning none. <br />The switches control the function of the ESA module and the ESA module cuts the spark on 1/2 the cylinders.<br />So faulty switches could cause erratic or no spark indirectly. Easy to check, just unplug the ESA module. Your ignition should work as if the ESA setup wasn't there.
