I have an OMC 2.5L 120hp which dies intermittently at high RPMS. If I let the boat sit (after it dies) for a short time it will restart and idle. However, upon running the boat back up to speed (around 25-30mph) it bogs down again. The carb was rebuilt lat year so I thought it might need a fuel pump so I replaced it but it did not help. The next thing I did was inspect the fuel in the bowl on the carb and it appeared to be cloudy. So I dumped the fuel out into a bottle and it definately has two seperate layers of liquid. I suspect water is in the fuel... can somebody confirm thie symptoms of water in the fuel and provide advice to resolve it? Is there a way to confirm it is water? What is the best way to purge the water? Thanks for your help.
