OMC 235 hp Flame arrester vent

1977 235 OMC 351W I/O...can the flame arrester hose vent to the atmosphere or does it have to go to the vale cover, etc?

That hose vents blow by from the engine (valve cover) to the flame arrester, not vice versa. Leave it where it is.

Thanks for replying. Heres how my set-up looks. Tell me whats wrong with this picture....There is a hose that goes from the top of the intake at the backside of the carb to the valve cover via the pcv. Do I need a Y connector to tie in the hose to the flame arrester and vent everything to the valve cover? Sorry for the dumb question, trying to learn...Thanks

thats fine. instead of the blowby going back into the motor thru the arrestor, its going in thru the carb base.. it is going to the carb base right? not a fitting on the intake?

If its stock leave it. Nothing is vented to the valve cover. The valve cover is vented to the induction of the engine. Take a picture and post it.

I'm pretty sure that its a fitting on the intake, maybe for vacuum?? The picture is a good idea. I'll try to get one posted in the next day or 2 <br />Thanks guys!
