hi, does any body have the information regarding the maximum revs a 3.0l omc engine runs at and what the torque of this engine would be? driving an omc cobra leg. also what hp does this engine produce at its maximun. any info greatly appreciated
assuming the omc one is the same as the merc one about 135 hp.. they rev to about 4800.. thow between 1988/89 and 1994 merc fitted the 3.0L with the old 2.5 head and claimed 115 hp from it.. thow i think it was more to do with them dropping the 2.5L and not wanting to leave gap in the line up than the actual power output..<br /><br />trog100
My 1986 3.0 Cobra OMC is 140 hp (rated at motor not prop...at prop probably less... 125-130hp). RPM recommended range is 4200 to 4600 rpm.<br /><br />I believe it produces it's max hp at WOT (full out).<br /><br />Torque? Lower pitch props produce better hole shot (take off and energy to pull skiers and the like)
