Boat: 1989 Bayliner Capri 1950 w/OMC 3.0 Cobra Sterndrive. The tilt pump and motor are considered a 1988 model.
Problem: I had the boat on the water last week and things were going well until at one point I dropped the sterndrive to it's lowest point and it stayed there. When trying to electrically tilt it up (or down) I got nothing but a "click" at each of the two tilt solenoids. Once carefully home, I checked both 50 amp fuses and both 20 amp fuses and they appeared OK. I checked for power at the connector between the solenoids and the tilt motor and power was there. I then removed the tilt motor ground wire and cleaned & sanded it, - still just clicks at each solenoid.
Then I tapped on the tilt motor with a wrench several times (as I've read here) and the motor worked when I tilt UP. However, I still received a "click" from one of the solenoids when I attempted to tilt DOWN. Any ideas?
That is where I am right now. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
