OMC 3.0 outdrive on a OMC 2.3 ? ? ?

I got a OMC cobra outdrive from 88 3.0, What will happen if I put it on my 87 2.3 OMC? Upper gears in the 2.3 are 21:21 and the 3.0 are 21:18. The lower unit gears are the same, 13:26. So how will it run with this outdrive?

I would think you could re-prop it, but check out this post and Don S's advice.

If you aren't already running a 15 you can probably do it. You might need to verify the gear ratio in the upper to make sure it's the original drive from the 3.0.
