Replaced plugs, and points, dist cap, spark plug wiring. Set timing. No matter what I do the motor runs very roughly on only one cyl. 3 plugs are wet with fuel and fouled looking black and nasty. The fourth plug is carboned up and nearly fouled. The motor shakes violently from side to side. The color of the plugs seems to indicate the carb mixture is way out of adjustment even though the carb has never been touched and still set to factory specs. When I attempted to start after winter storage, a small piece of laminated metal came out of the exaust pipe. I suspect a metal gasket located between the one piece exaust/intake and the block has rusted allowing a pressure leak between the exaust and Intake manifold. I also suspect the leak is not fixable without removing the carburator, and manifold. The motor is original and very low hours of usage. It will be a very expensive repairs. Any ideas on what else could be causing my problem? How do I check something like that? Can't use a vacuum gage because the motor will not Idle properly. Stumped?
