omc 3.9 4 cyl wont start hot

I just acquired an 83 sea sprite w/omc 4 cyl 3.0. Aside from old boat issues, it took a while to start after 1 hour run and shut down for a swim. Sounds like vapor lock to me. Have not checked fuel filter yet or some of the other post ideas I have seen. Though I would also ask the experts.
