OMC 4.3l no start after running

I switched batteries after running my SeaRay, OMC, 4.3l, Cobra for several hours. Upon turning the key... nothing. No click. Nothing. Switching the battery back and to the "both" setting got me nothing. I crossed the solenoid and it cranked right up. Is there a neutral safety switch and if so, where is it? Also, how would I go about checking it? Any other ideas other than the neutral safety switch are more than welcome.<br />Thanks, Dave

try moving shifter handle forward/reverse while holding key in start position.

Same thing with my Cobra. Had to have a dealer replace my shift cable to solve the problem.
