Hi all,
I need a good part number for the "cap" or "puck" that holds the worm gear shaft in place. It's the round piece of metal that has an o-ring on it that the end of the worm gear shaft goes into.
I believe it's called a retainer/bushing but I'd like to be sure before I order this part.
Also, any links to a good price on this piece are appreciated. If you have one you'd like to sell, please email me: matt[at]beachbum.net.

Thanks so much

Look HERE for your part number.
Look HERE or HERE to try and find it. Other than that, you will have to search EBay.

That is a vintage part and one not often, if ever replaced when it was current. You made a very expensive decision to get out the drill! Sorry! :(

Thanks KaGee, hystat - i've got one coming in the mail now. I know I made a mistake, but I'm still not sure it would have come out if Ihad not done that. It's all about learning. :)

For anyone who has this 'puck' held in with a snap ring rather than that plate with 3 screws ....
.... Look for 981348.

It is a repair part for when the spap ring groove corrodes away, and drops your drive down (usually while towing)

DHP

Geez, sounds sorta like one upper i have here that has a bracket added over the end of the trucourse steering worm because they apparently would pop out the rear of the case... resulting in a loss of steering
I wonder how many boat crashes inspired that update...
