I have a boat yard telling me that my boat came out of storage with front starboard cyl bad needs valve job and rebuild heads after removing motor. I put this boat away perfect. 28 hours labor/machine shop $400/materials$500 totalling 2400 dollars. All fresh water run and maintained. Any help appreciated. Opinions

elvlansing,

Well, things do happen in storage. If it were me, I would want to know (and see) exactly what is wrong with the head(s). Are they cracked? If so, freeze damage. Who winterized it?

Also, after 10 years (1994) you are probably WAY OVERDUE for manifolds and risers. Those could have caused your problems.

The price sounds reasonable.

Smells just a Little Fishy to me.....
DJ raises Very Valid points..... What Exactly is Wrong ?????
I don't know how much access there is in your boat,
But I Also Question pulling the motor, just to change the heads....
They ARE rebuilding Both heads, Right ?????

hahahahaaa they didnt winterize it right and want you to pay. I strongly recommend a second opinion. Pay another mech for a diagnosis.
