I'm looking at an ad for a used boat. It has twin OMC 70s. Thats all it says. I'm not familiar with OMC outboards. Are there parts? were they reliable? Assuming they are presently OK (as claimed) is this anything I should invest in?
Thanks for any help.:/

How does over 30 years in production sound? Sound like a turkey?

The OMC triple loopers (three cylinder, loop charged) were a good 20 years ahead of the field when introduced and they only got better.

For the Range (70) they are the absolute best motors you can get, IMO

I couldn't agree more. Great fuel economy and power from small yet torquy (spelling?) engine.

We owned 2, sold one, still own another 82 model running like a clock.

Thanks! I was hoping they were a good model, as the rest of the boat is what I've been wanting.

how are these powerwise compared to the 55/60hp twins? I know they are going to have alot more top end punch but do they get out of the hole alot quicker too? reason for asking is the 50/60/70 tripple isn't much bigger in CID then the twins 45 vs. 49 I've been checking out different engines to replace my 55hp twin and the omc 70hp is deffinatly in the running. (my 55hp has trouble planing my boat with 3 people)

I have a 1970 3 cyl 60 hp Evinrude (same platform as the 70). It is AWESOME! Smooth running, sips fuel, and powerful (for a 60). Jerks my old but up on one ski! I would LOVE to have a 70.
