OMC Cobra 5.8l shift problem

Having trouble going from forward to reverse. Stalls half the time. I have heard lower shift cable is the problem. Is there another option other than replacing it, which I think would require removing outdrive? Looking for options to tighten/lube it up. Any suggestions would be great!!

Possibly the cable or an ESA problem. here's a link to an article by Gary Hastings on the necessary adjustments on a Cobra leg. http://www.hastings.org/~stuart/cobra/ A must read for anyone thinking about adjusting or replacing shift cables.

thanks ..he sounds like he's been where I'm at
