before you tell me the engine alignment is off, I aligned it with the shaft it self with the bearing in. perfect measurements. alignment tool does not fit in the coupling without the bearing in. Splines scraped and clean little grease. ??? what the hell. Never had this happen before.

Sounds like the bar is either the wrong size or the coupler is trashed if you really can't get it in the coupler with no bearing.

Use a caliper and measure the alignment bar. What does the yoke look like?

Howdy,

Welcome Aboard!

It is not possible to accurately align a stern drive using the splined shaft(Yoke) ......and it will wear out the (aluminum) coupler inner splines very quickly if you run it that way.

You MUST use a proper alignment tool to get it right.

Regards,

Rick
