OMC Cobra - Engine Stalling

I'm hopiing someone has a good answer for me. I have a 72 Mako with a 87 OMC 5.0L. At crusing speed and below the engine runs great. At higher RPM & speed she stalls out. I replaced my fuel filter (which was new) and there was some sediment in the one I replaced. 1/2 the gas is new the other 1/2 was in the tank when I winterized the boat. Any recomendations? Does this sound like a fuel problem or could I have something else like an electronic problem or fuel pump problem? Thanks

Doubt if its a fuel problem since it cruises ok. Check the carb first.
