omc cobra exhaust bellow

do you need to even have an exhaust bellow? If so does it need to be attached to the outdrive.. or can it be loose? 1988 5.0

Well since it exits below the water line anyway, I guess you go with it loose or missing.

May not idle or run as did. will be louder..

Not sure but the "Exhaust Tube" for a Volvo SX may fit. Not sure if you would want a loose exhaust bellows. Exhaust may exit and go over the prop and create cavitation.
